The 220 backs also advance twice as far on the front and back ends of the
roll due to the lack of the paper backing...

I understand the theory of what Bob M says... that the wonderful and
innovative handling of the pressure plate with the KO backs means that they
could handle both 120 and 220 with equal ease, but in real-world operation I
can't see how the logistics of this could be easily dealt with...
